The app icon wasn’t a big deal but hopefully there are real performance gains because Yahoo! Instead they should probably opt for a two factor authentication system that relies more heavily on software (ala Google Authenticator). Carrying around a device for communication and then another device for authentication and authorization (Bluetooth CAC Reader) seems awfully silly these days.

James Galbraith, macworld.com

As a Mac user, I’ve never been a big fan of USB for storage. Keyboards, mice, sure. But a hard drive connected via USB has always been slow compared to those using Apple’s FireWire, FireWire 800, and (most recently) Thunderbolt interfaces. And…

USB 3 outperforms Thunderbolt on the Mac with spinning external storage. But, if you need fast external storage for your Mac you should get an external Thunderbolt SSD drive which smokes USB 3 in all categories.

Changes to our SSL Certificates

Changes to our SSL Certificates: Jay, blogspot.com

Apple CEO Tim CookChris ForesmanThere’s a disconnect between how Apple CEO Tim Cook sees his company’s tax strategies and how some members of the US Senate view it. That became clearer than ever today after Cook and two other Apple executives…

In the end, Cook wouldn’t agree to move more of Apple’s cash to the US while it has a 35 percent corporate tax rate. “I am not proposing a zero rate,” said Cook. “My proposal is that we have a reasonable tax for bringing back money from overseas.” He called for a “dramatic simplification” of the US tax code.

Google Said to Face New Antitrust Probe Over Display Ads - Bloomberg

Google Said to Face New Antitrust Probe Over Display Ads - Bloomberg: Sounds like Google is being...

I thought about playing with clustering a few days ago.
