This excerpt of a sign hanging up at the pharmacy window at the Durham Veteran’s Administration Medical Center pretty much sums up the quality of care and customer service you get at the VA.
I’ve been waiting four days for a call back from a scheduling clerk to schedule an appointment “as soon as possible”. It’s like there is a test for not caring and piss poor performance that you must fail at so miserably you end up at the VA.
The VA truly is what the Affordable Care Act will bring to people as far as quality. The administrators and bureaucrats get to decide when they work, when you see a doctor, and what level of care you’ll get. The doctors are powerless in the face of the behemoth in front of them. Innovation and creativity is stifled because change is almost impossible. Morale suffers because acceptance of less than stellar service is expected.
